Oh my, oh my. Why was this just a novella? It was so good, I could not put it down. Poison Dance follows James, a member of the Assassin's Guild, who is requested to a very powerful and rich nobleman. As if that wasn't bad enough, there is turmoil in the Guild itself when their leader is revealed to be dead. Toss in some misunderstanding, danger, and tension into shady bar, and wait for the explosion.

Poison Dance was more than a great story, there was a depth to the characters and it generated emotions that you do not usually find in novellas where the characters are not already established in the reader's minds. In less than fifty pages, you manage to care for these characters. You learn just enough about them to care and cheer them on, yet there is enough secrets still waiting to be discovered to keep things interesting.

I loved learning about James and his two friends. They were wonderful, fascinating, secretive, and badass. In other words, I loved them from the start. Thalia was an interesting girl, you couldn't help but feel for her. Because I had such an instant connection to the characters, I dove right into the story. I don't want to say more about the story or plot for fear of giving it away, but I will say that by the time I was finished, I had to recheck the release date for the first book because I was super excited. Only to be temporary disappoited because I have several months to wait for it. Patience is not my strong suit.

If your a fan of fantasy books, I'd highly recommend this one.

  1. Oh, Midnight Thief is a title I've been looking forward to for awhile so I'm glad to hear you liked this! I've seen mostly mixed reviews for this novella, so it's good to see a positive reaction, too. Finger crossed you like the book just as much. :)

  2. I'm very curious about what the book is going to be like. From what the author told me, the novella is slightly darker than Midnight Thief is going to be. But I read books like this fairly often, so I didn't have any issue with the content. I'm hoping I enjoy Midnight Thief as well, since it is on my buy list.

    Thank you for stopping by.
