STEP ONE OF CREATING ANY BLOG: Find Your Brand

A lot of How to Start a Blog Guides available list ‘designing your brand’ somewhere towards the end of their tutorial. But I disagree with that.

Unless you just tumbled off the cliff and into the blogging pond like I did, then I am sure you have read a few such guides.
  • If Luck favored you, the How to guides you have come across have been generous enough to toss out a sentence or two about this mysterious branding concept.
  • If Luck doesn’t, well, I bet you skipped right on over this crucial step because you didn’t understand the concept, and went straight onto creating your first post.

My 10% Rule When It Comes To DNFing and Why I Follow It | The Dreaded Did Not Finish Discussion

Paper Bindings | My 10% Rule When It Comes To DNFing and Why I Follow It | The Dreaded Did Not Finish Discussion

When I first started reading for fun, I adamantly refused to put down a book for any reason.

I may have skim-read through the boring bits, but I’d never even heard of the term DNF. (Did Not Finish)

I’d finally just decided that reading was fun, and the whole concept of putting a book down honestly never occurred to me at all.
At the time I was changing over from reading about 5 required school books a year to over 200 because reading was enjoyable books a year.

Everything I read was new and exciting to me, even when it wasn’t. I put up with a lot in books then that I never would deal with now.

“Nothing about Alice Wood’s life is normal right now. Her fiancé, Patrick, called off their wedding and relationship only days before their nonrefundable wedding trip. And though a luxurious European river cruise for one is just what she needs, it’s not what she gets...

Due to a horrible misunderstanding, Alice is now cramped in her “romantic” suite with one of Patrick’s friends. Instead of cruising along the Rhine, Main, and Danube rivers sipping champagne with the love of her life, she’s navigating the waters with a strange—yet mysteriously handsome—British aristocrat.

An author, Elliot is just looking for some alone time to write. But his stodgy, serious self is about to be sidetracked by a woman who seems to have jumped out of the pages of a fairy tale, one who is determined to shake up his life...and include him in her own happily ever after.”

Paper Bindings | The Time I Got Two Owlcrate Subscription Boxes In One Month | Comparing The Two And Are They Worth It? | Steampunk VS Royalty

If you have been in the book blogging world for about five minutes, chances are you've heard about a subscription box or two.

There are several big named ones out there that I have been reduced to a green with envy, drooling mess from wishing I could receive one. Because I don't have an easy way of buying things online, I never truly thought I would get one.

A situation presented itself that allowed me to buy June's box, so I took the opportunity to do so. And at an undisclosed point in time for an undisclosed reason, I decided it was better to spend my gas money on getting the previous month's box since I am a Steampunk Addict and needed something massive to cheer me up.

Paper Bindings - All Things Life, Books, and Blog Monthly Recap - Hello - Oh - Goodbye June | June Recap
Your guide to what's happening at Paper Bindings.

The What's What

I started pushing myself more to take the blog in a new direction now that my time is not split between moving forward, catching up, and fixing the past. Things are slow until I build back up my reading review backlog and type up enough posts to have a decent buffer again, but things are progressing in the direction I want them to move in.

I attended ALA's Annual Conference the last weekend of the month. I had so much fun meeting everyone and hanging out with different bloggers. Plus is was nice to see one of my cobloggers in person since it's been over a year since I saw her last.
