Paper Bindings - We Failed Big Last Month Can We Succeed This Time Around (August TBR Goals)

Each month the girls here at Paper Bindings have decided to start a TBR pile goal. We will pick a few books we are hoping to get through each new month and recap how we did last month.

So for July we had set some (should have been) easy goals for ourselves.

Update on my TBR: I failed miserable. *hides in shame*

But I have a completely valid excuse, I had to find and start a second job.

So I'm totally just adding the books I haven't read from last month again. Which is all but one....which makes it look like I didn't read any thing. But all the books I read in July were owned and/or from my master TBR list.

A Curious Tale of the In Between by Lauren DestefanoWilberforce by H.S. Cross Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas

A Curious Tale of the In Between by Lauren Destefano Another ARC that I received at BEA/BookCon that since it is a middle grade book can be quickly added to my read pile. Plus it’s about talking to ghosts! What’s not to like?

Wilberforce by H.S. Cross I have always been fascinated by boarding schools and this ARC seems like it will be right up my alley.

Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas This is our book club book, not something I would usually read, but it looks like it could be interesting.

Update on my July TBR pile: I pretty much failed. I did not finish the lingering The Best of Me. Nor did I even start The Heartbreakers or The Diviners. Which really bothers me because I wanted to read my ARCs before they came out. I did start The Raven Boys, but I am not very far. Lastly, I finished An Abundance of Katherines, but mostly because it was an audiobook and I was listening to it on my way to work.

Turn Right at Machu Picchu by Mark Adamsthe raven boys by maggie stiefvaterharry potter and the sorcerers stoneHarry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling

Turn Right at Machu Picchu by Mark Adams A friend gave this to me for Christmas for my trip to Peru earlier this month. It’s part history, part travel journal of Adams’s experience in Machu Picchu. I started in while in Peru and really liked it, he’s interesting and funny.

Raven Boys by Maggie StiefvaterIt’s the book club book for July and I’ve heard good things about it.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling. Stone is the book the blog gals and I are re-reading together. Like with everything lately, I’m hopeless behind. Prince I’m trying to re-read with Muggle Net’s Alohomora! but I’m also sadly behind. I think they’re almost to Hallows now :( Sigh.

Update on my July TBR pile: I did terrible :( I didn’t finish a single thing on my list from last time. I’ve been having a hard time getting books started/finished lately. Not sure why but hope I get over it soon!

lois lane : fallout by gwenda bondthe flash season zeroJackaby by William RitterThrone of Glass by Sarah J Maas

Lois Lane Fallout- This is a hold-out from last month. I’ve heard from Dreams that it’s a must read so I am excited about this one!

The Flash Season Zero- Also one of last month’s picks. I staved off my CW Flash withdrawal with fanfiction, which is probably not something I should advertise...

Jackaby by William Ritter- This is supposed to be a cross between Doctor Who and Sherlock, so it’s a no brainer.

Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas- Book club book! I like the summary, but I’m slightly cautious because I’ve heard luke-warm things.

Update on my July TBR pile: Well, if you look at this months list, you will see some familiar titles. Last month I didn’t read much of what I meant to. I did read Raven Boys and Unearthly. I blame the Raven Cycle for my other failures because I read all three of the available books instead of what I’d planned.

What are you planning on reading this month?

  1. I just noticed that all of my books have similar covers: close ups of people's faces turned to the right.

    Weird coincidence...
