Title: White Hot Kiss (The Dark Elementals #1)
Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout
Stars: 4

"One kiss could be the last.

Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she's anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses.

Raised among the Wardens—a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she's crushed on since forever.

Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she's not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn't an issue, considering Roth has no soul.

But when Layla discovers she's the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne…it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world."

What I Liked:

* Zayne - He has that boy next door, brother protector vibe going on, and yet, he's still a great love interest for her.

* Roth - What more could a girl ask for than a sexy, snarky, bad boy?

* Gargoyles - I've always love them, so some shifter gargoyles? Yes please.

* The Writing - From the first page, I knew I was going to love this story. It had everything I love in a paranormal story and was it's own great tale.

“At some point, Roth had gotten hold of my cell and replaced Zayne's name with Stony and listed his own number under Sexy Beast. What a tool”

What was 'eh':

* Love Triangle - Still not a fan. I've already made my choice, so well see how this one pans out.

To Sum It All Up:

I rather enjoyed this book. It was one of those stay up all night to finish and now I must go out an buy the book type of books. (Note: I borrowed it from my library.) To me, this book had great characters, an interesting plot, and plenty of romance. A win all around. I'm really looking forward to reading the second book in the series.
